No, you probably haven't ever heard of me before. No problem. Not counting an odd bug-report, this is my first honest "contribution" to anything of any scale.

I'm working on NetWorth as a personal "labor of love". Given the amount of quality products I have obtained for free from the open source community, I felt it my duty and obligation to make NetWorth similarly available to anyone who wants to use it (be that as an end-user wanting a personal finance package or a developer of another application wanting to utilize bits of code in their own project). I do hope that, when done, this finds itself a good home on many systems, but that isn't really the prime motivating factor for me right now.

The amount of time I have to give to this project varies a bit... I have a "real job" in the engineering sector, so Linux (etc) is a bit of a personal hobby for me (though hardly one taken lightly). Counting back to initial concept design and rough sketches (i.e. of data structures, etc.) NetWorth is probably a year in the making so far, though this is partly due to a massive re-work of a few important "under the hood" items over February of 2004. I can easily see another year of work on items I want to provide, though the first and most difficult "hump" has been passed.

Shameless self-promotional statement : If you happen to like things here well enough to steal me away from my current job in favor of a serious code development position (good pay/benefits, relocation, etc.) I'll always listen to offers. ;-)
